Children advocacy group puts focus on public policy

Putting kids first main goal of advocacy groups

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Putting kids first was the main goal stated today at the State Capitol by Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families and the Kids Count Coalition. The groups, along with local leaders, put a spotlight on what they feel matters most; public policies that affect the future of our children.

The meeting was held to help get word out about issues voters should pay special attention to this campaign season. The groups also stressed the kids to think about how to make Arkansas a better place for future generations.

"190,000 students or 45% of all the students enrolled in public education today will participate in a program if one were available to them," said Laveta Wills-Hale with the Arkansas Advocates for Children.

Voter registration ends on Monday, October 10.
