Clemency not recommended for death row inmate

Clemency not recommended for Jack Greene

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Arkansas Parole Board has decided to not recommend clemency for inmate Jack Greene.

Wednesday a clemency hearing was held for Greene. The board decided, by a vote of 6 to 0, to not recommend clemency because his sentence was not considered excessive and due to the nature and seriousness of the offense.

The recommendation will now go before Governor Hutchinson.

Greene was convicted for kidnapping his niece in North Carolina, killing his brother Turner "Tommy" Greene, and the murder of 69-year-old Jethro Burnett, who was a retired preacher.

Greene's execution has been set for November 9, 2017.
