COLLEGE STATION, Ark. (KTHV) -- A baseball park is in the works for the College Station area of Little Rock, as the city will likely sell 12 acres of land to Pulaski County.
The City of Little Rock knows this area has a lot of rebuilding to do.
A city official explained that it's a part of East Little Rock that hasn’t really had a lot of parks and areas that it really can invest in, and they think this park is a step in the right direction.
The new ballpark will go in along Zeuber Road in College Station.
Pulaski County officials can't wait to upgrade this area. One official said that it's an opportunity to better strengthen and build our communities and neighborhoods.
“They've spent the last 19 years trying to raise the money and make the design and find that location where they could replace that ballpark,” said Judge Barry Hyde. Hyde said the watershed and Progressive League of College Station raised the entire cost of the park: a whopping $480,000.
People in the community are also ready for this upgrade.
One resident said that it's been a struggle, but this may be the best thing that can happen for the neighborhood.
The Little Rock Port Authority sees this park as a tremendous asset to bring in more business; there will be company picnics as well as other events.
College Station has not decided on a date to start building. The Little Rock City Board of Directors will decide vote on the land sell Tuesday evening.
