Construction on Gamble Road nears completion | 11 Listens

THV11's Denise Middleton tells us what the status is for a construction project on Gamble Road in Little Rock.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – A construction project on a popular road in west Little Rock continues, but where does it stand? 11 Listens is getting answers.

THV11 went to the Gilbraltar Heights neighborhood which is part of the city’s 2013 through 2015 improvement program.

Mike Hood, the engineering manager for Arkansas Public Works told THV11 the work from Marina to Gamble is almost complete and there's only minor work to be done.

“We pretty well-completed construction of the job with all new storm sewers, curb gutter, sidewalk, nice new paving and we’re just finishing the final clean up on the side of the street,” said Hood.

Hood said it should take less than a month to get everything cleaned. The street reconstruction project had many different utilities and contractors involved in the process. Now, there is a phase two of the project.

THV11 was told funding has been approved for improvements from Arthur Lane to Kanis Road. Hood said he hopes the design will be done later this year.

He also hopes it will go to bid in the first quarter of 2018 with construction to start in the second quarter. The department expects phase two to take a year to complete.
