Conway using sing-alongs & tricycles to teach preschoolers good safety habits

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - Singing songs about wiggly worms and snoring bears can teach children how to cross the street and listen for smoke alarms. It’s called Safety Town.

This comprehensive education program introduces safety awareness through classroom, role-playing, and hands-on activities.

Children will learn about fire, traffic, home, train, car, bus, playground, and personal safety. Safety Town also includes a miniature town with streets, stoplights, crosswalks, and stores. Each child will have a chance to drive a Sch-winn Roadster in Safety Town to practice proper street safety rules.

Your child will receive a nutritious snack, lunch and a drink every day. Books, songs, posters, videos, art projects, and guest speakers will enable the children to enjoy and understand what they are learning.

On the last day, we will have a graduation ceremony for parents to see what their child has learned in this great experience. Each child will go home with a new bicycle safety helmet. This is the 21st year of Safety Town in Conway. The program first began as Toad Town.

The three-day event will introduce safety awareness through classroom, role-playing and hands-on activities. Children learn about fire, traffic, home, train, household poisons, car, bus, playground and personal safety. Books, songs, posters, videos, art projects and guest speakers are part of the fun-oriented curriculum.

Safety Town also includes a miniature town with streets, stoplights, crosswalks, and stores. Each child will have an opportunity to ride a tricycle in Safety Town to practice proper street safety rules.
