Singer/songwriter Kris Allen says goodbye to Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Arkansas native Kris Allen is saying goodbye to his home state, according to the singer/songwriter's Instagram account.

The Instagram post reads, "Today me and my family said goodbye to the beautiful state of Arkansas and moved to Tennessee. An incredibly bittersweet moment in our lives. We love our state and will always consider ourselves Arkansans. But happy to start this new chapter in our lives. Thank you to the people of this state for always supporting me in everything that I have done. We love ya'll so much! #Arkansas #Razorback4Life #Horizons"

Kris, 29, rose to national fame during the eighth season of American Idol in 2009. He was born in Jacksonville, Arkansas and after high school he moved to Conway to attend the University of Central Arkansas. After his stint in Idol, an entertainment venue in Simon Park in downtown Conway was named "Kris Allen Stage" in his honor.

Kris has had a number of hit songs including, "No Boundaries," "Heartless," and "Live Like We're Dying." His new album "Horizons" is set to release August 12.
