Donations roll in to rebuild Ark. state capitol's 10 Commandments monument

'God's Not Dead' filmmakers donate to rebuild 10 Commandments monument

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- A massive donation is jump-starting the effort to build a new 10 Commandments monument at the Arkansas state capitol.

Pure-Flix Entertainment and the GND Media Group, who made the 2014 film God's Not Dead, donated $25 thousand to the rebuilding project. The groups presented their gift to state officials today at the capitol.

That big check is not the only donation. State Senator Jason Rapert, who is spearheading the project, said he's touched by the outpouring of support.

"Somewhere around $54 to $55 thousand just in the past few days over the holiday that's come in. And so we just want to thank everybody,” said Senator Jason Rapert.

Officials also said they're thinking of having bars around the new monument for more security.
