Double hit and run accident in downtown LR, suspect escapes

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A suspect has escaped after hitting two vehicles in downtown Little Rock. The accidents happened early Thursday morning around 9 a.m..

Witnesses say a vehicle heading south down Broadway Street hit the first vehicle near 6th Street. The driver did not stop and continued through a red light where they hit a second vehicle.

The driver of the second car, Zaier Baker, spoke with us about the incident. Baker said witnesses told him that the driver jumped a fence before stealing the car and causing the two accidents.

"I couldn't believe it," Baker said. "I was like, 'Oh my gosh, me? Seriously?'"

Several of the witnesses stated to police that the suspect ran over a couple of bushes and a handicap parking sign before getting out of the car and running down Arch Street.

Police search the surrounding area but did not find the suspect. If you have any information on the hit-and-run accidents, you are advised to call the Little Rock Police Department.
