PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) – Thursday, the city of Pine Bluff and Go Forward Pine received a $1.35 million grant to support downtown infrastructure.
This is just another push to transform the city as more business doors are opening. A boutique and cupcake shop recently opened up. Coming soon, a salon by owner Wil Jenkins who owns six buildings downtown.
He plans to open a Deli, Deserts and Ice Cream shop as well as a pool hall and steak house. There are also plans for a coffee shop and blues and jazz venue.
“We started acquiring buildings in strategic spots because my wife had this vision," said Jenkins.
Through the new grant, the city and Go Forward Pine Bluff have a streetscape project in the works. They want to widen sidewalks, fix utilities, lighting, and landscaping. That construction is set to begin in February.
“Pine Bluff is going to be put back on the map," said Jenkins.
For the first time, this Saturday in Pine Bluff is Pop Up in the Bluff where food, music, and vendors will be set up to show how downtown can thrive.
