Escaped Arkansas inmate captured in North Carolina

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) – According to the Arkansas Department of Correction, an inmate who escaped and stole a vehicle in June has been captured in North Carolina.

46-year-old Robert Woodward of Hot Springs escaped while working on a field utility squad in a cornfield near the Delta Regional Unit in Dermott around 8 a.m. on June 20.

Woodward taken into custody overnight on Monday by the US Marshals Service’s Fugitive Apprehension Task Force in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He will remain in custody in North Carolina until he is returned to Arkansas.

Woodward is serving an eight-year sentence out of Pulaski County for fleeing and was taken into custody on April 6.
