Exxon files appeal in Mayflower oil spill

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- An Exxon Mobil subsidiary is asking a court to overturn its $2.6 million fine paid earlier this year.

Exxon Mobil Pipeline Company filed court documents challenging the fine and a federal safety administration's authority to order safety measures. This all stems from the Pegusus pipeline rupture that spilled heavy crude oil into a mayflower subdivision in March 2013.

The safety administration must respond to the appeal by September 16. Oral arguments are scheduled for October. Stay with THV11 and thv11.com for more updates as they become available.
