Three people dead after fatal accident shuts down Interstate 40 near Mayflower

MAYFLOWER, Ark. (KTHV) - A section of Interstate 40 was temporarily closed due to a fatal accident which has taken the lives of three people according to the Arkansas State Police.

The Mayflower Police Department confirmed that two women and an infant have died in the accident.

The accident took place on the eastbound side of I-40 near the 135 mile marker near Mayflower. Police say the accident took place on the off-ramp exit to Highway 89 South.

Around 5:20 p.m., that stretch of I-40 was reopened to traffic.
