Faulkner County Clerk pleads guilty to obstructing governmental operations

SALINE COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) -- Saline County Prosecutor, Ken Casady, announced that Margaret Darter, the Faulkner county clerk, entered a guilty plea to obstructing governmental operations, a Class C misdemeanor.

Her plea agreement required her to resign from office, provide a factual basis for her plea, affirm under oath that she has neither backdated nor falsely altered any other document required to be filed with her office, and pay fines and court costs of $670.

“Darter knew she wasn’t supposed to backdate those documents, but did it anyway," said Casady.  "It was right that she forfeited her remaining months in office.  That being said, Faulkner County voters are better suited to determine whether she should return to her position.  That isn’t for me to say.”
