Female pioneers in Arkansas politics honored for work

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Several women who made great strides in Arkansas politics were honored Saturday night at Cajun's Wharf in Little Rock.

Jimmie Lou Fisher and Lottie Shackelford were applauded for their service to the state and their community. Fisher ran for governor in 2002, and Shackelford served as the first female mayor of Little Rock.

Fisher also served as state treasurer from 1981 through 2003, including during Bill Clinton's second time as governor from 1983 to 1992.
