#FindMalik: Missing child's grandmother speaks out

SEARCY, Ark. (KTHV) - Malik Drummond, 2, disappeared Sunday evening, and Searcy police are still searching the area.

The boy was last seen at his home on the 700 block of West Park around 6 p.m. Sunday, November 23. According to the parents, Malik wandered out of his home while his father was napping in the same room. He was wearing brown pants and a blue shirt when he disappeared.

THV11's Kevin Trager spoke with his grandmother who only wishes for Malik's safe return.

"If anybody knows where Malik Drummond is, could you please bring him home?" his grandmother asked.

As the seconds, minutes, and hours go by, family members of the toddler can only fear the worst.

"The kid has been freezing to death. He didn't have a coat on… just his shoes and a t-shirt," she said.

Throughout the day, a number of law enforcement agencies, including the Searcy Police Department, White County Sheriff's Office, and Arkansas State Police deployed search and rescue teams, but by nightfall, much of those efforts were scaled back.

By 8 p.m., emergency management officials and the police department requested each of the 100+ volunteers stop searching for Malik and go home.

Searcy police ask that if anyone has information that could help them in the search for Malik Drummond to call (501) 268-3531.
