Free financial workshop: Invest in yourself

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Arkansas currently ranks 49 out of 50 states in financial literacy.

This means that the average Arkansan has trouble understanding basicfinancial issues, such as balancing checkbooks and credit cards.

That's why GenWealth Financial Advisors is hosting workshops all fall to teach Arkansan financial skills.

Advisors from GenWealth will partner with a UALR professor to hostthe workshops beginning September 26th and running through November16th.

THV11's Elle Mohs sat down withJohn Shrewsbury and Janet Walker todiscuss the upcoming workshop, 'Invest in Yourself', which will be heldTuesday, October 1 at 7 p.m. It is geared more toward women.

"Women have special needs when it comes to money and investing," says Shrewsbury. "Often times we find that women go through a situation where they lose their husband and maybe they're not exposed to all the details of the household finances or they go through a divorce and all of sudden find themselves on their own. We want to try to help them understand more about money, more about investing."
