'Fresh Prince' star to be Grand Marshal of world's shortest St. Patrick's Day parade

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) -- Alfonso Ribeiro will serve as Grand Marshal for the 14th Annual World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day parade in downtown Hot Springs.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star and host of America's Funniest Home Videos will lead the parade on March 17, 2017.

“Alfonso will bring a new level of energy and playfulness to our wacky little parade,” said Steve Arrison, CEO of Visit Hot Springs, the city’s convention and visitors bureau and sponsor of the celebration.

Having grown up in front of the camera, Ribeiro knew that opportunities existed behind the scenes, too.  His resume as a TV director includes popular programs like In The House, The Wannabes, Meet The Browns, and All of Us.

His goofy-style dancing on Fresh Prince became a national sensation, and Ribeiro went on to win the 19th season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars.

The annual parade, whose route is only 98 feet long, the length of famed Bridge Street, annually draws upward of 30,000 people into the Hot Springs historic downtown district.
