Friends, family gather to hold benefit for 6-year-old with brain tumor

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Friends and supporters gathered around 6-year-old Maylea Estridge to hope and pray for a miracle.

Maylea is battling Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare brain tumor. It's a lethal cancer right at the top of her spinal cord, and only about 10 percent of patients with this tumor survive two years. However, benefits like this one help her family stay brave.

"Cherish your children," said Morgan Styles, Maylea's mother. "I mean there have been so many times that I've looked back on the times that I've been too busy to play with her. Just cherish them because you never you never know what's going to happen."

The benefit included a poker run, face painting, kid's games, food, sodas, music, silent auction and more.

A charity fund is set up for Mayela and her family. Donations can be made directly at any Arvest Bank in the name of Maylea Estridge.
