LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The annual cleanup event, the Great Arkansas Cleanup, will kick off its fall litter pickup campaign on Saturday, September 10 at Murray Park in Little Rock. The cleanup is an initiative to pick up litter along the roadways and waterways of the Natural State.
The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission's goal is to preserve the beauty that the Arkansas nature provides but also keep our cities clean through annual cleanup events. The fall litter pickup initiative will run from September 10 until October 31.
"Litter continues to be a problem in Little Rock," said Suzanne Hirrel of KLRB, a local coordinator of this year's cleanup. "It can leave a negative impact on our community for years to come. By participating in this year's Great Arkansas Cleanup, local residents can help make us a more vibrant community."
Keep Little Rock Beautiful is encouraging more volunteers to sign-up and help this year. Anyone from businesses down to individuals are asked to show up to pickup litter. Water based and land based cleanup will be focused on during the event on Saturday.
The litter pickup event will take place on September 10 at Murray Park. Check-in will be located north of the dog park near the boat ramps at 9:00 a.m. If you wish to volunteer, the group is asking you to email email@example.com to RSVP.
