Greenwood City Council votes to retire K9 officer Kina

Kina, the K9 officer who was hurt in the line of duty in Sebastion County last August is retiring.

GREENWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) - In an unanimous decision, the Greenwood City Council have officially retired K9 officer Kina.

In August 2016, Kina was wounded during a gunfight that killed Sebastian County Corporal Bill Cooper. She was shot twice with bullet wounds found on her neck and back. She was found roughly two days later.

Kina will retire with her handler Dennis Wisner, who recently retired from the police department. The heroic dog will now be under the care of the Wisner family.

The Greenwood Police Department said they will try to find funding to hire a new K9 officer.
