Juneteenth celebration in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- A tradition and a party renewed Saturday, in Little Rock and elsewhere: the celebration of Juneteenth.

It's an annual event that marks the end of slavery after President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center in Little Rock once again hosted the festivities.

“We get to come out and see great festivities. The vendors can come out and sell their products and meet good people in the community. and it's a great opportunity for everybody,” said Chris James with the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center.

Organizers at the cultural center call Juneteenth a time for reflection, as well as a chance to focus on the future.
