Kids provide candy to soldiers with 'Operation Troop Treats'

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- All this week, children have a chance to be a part of "Operation Troop Treats."

Kids are encouraged to take 25 pieces of unopened candy to Kool Smiles dental care in Little Rock.

In exchange for their candy, they'll receive a toy, and the candy collected goes into dental and care packages for troops.

Manager Derrick Fletcher is an army veteran and said that the care packages make a difference.  He said it gives troops a touch of home.

“When you’re deployed, and you’re in theatre, just the everyday grind can kind of get to you.  Just receiving that care package is a sweet reminder—no pun intended,” said Fletcher.

Operation Troop Treats last until Saturday.

Families donated more than three tons of candy last year, and Kool Smiles is hoping to bring in even more this year.
