Laman Library offering summer feeding program

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - When school is out, some Arkansas kids don't get the three meals a day that they need.

The Laman Library in North Little Rock answered Governor Beebe's call to help feed kids this summer.

In the past week, the library has fed more than 700 children.

Executive Director Jeff Baskin said they partnered with the North Little Rock Parks and Rec department for the program.

"Summer time for kids ought to be a time for them to explore, read, relax, have fun. They shouldn't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from so I think this is a really important program," said Baskin.

The meals are open to any children in the area, and there is no registering required.

The library also invites any of the kids to stick around for its summer reading program.
