Listen: 911 call made by escapee's alleged hostage victim

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) – Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has released the 911 call made by Timothy Buffington's alleged hostage Saturday night.

Buffington, 47, reportedly escaped from the Arkansas Department of Corrections Pine Bluff Unit Saturday. Preliminary investigation shows that he broke into the safe room of a home on prison grounds and obtained a shotgun.

Shea Wilson with ADC said Buffington confronted a woman who lives at the home and attempted to have her drive him off the prison grounds.

In the 911 tape, the caller said she was kidnapped but had gotten away.

She said, "We need assistance as soon as possible because he is armed, and he will shoot."

Jefferson County Sheriff's officials told THV11 Sunday night that they believed he was armed with a shotgun and a backpack of ammo.

The caller went on to say, "He has four dogs, a shotgun, ammo, and other keys. He can get more weapons. …He has all our house keys."
