Little Rock bar and grill shut down for safety reasons

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The city of Little Rock has temporarily shut down Midtown Bar and Grill on Asher for being unsafe.

The restaurant was scheduled to host events this weekend, but was determined to be unsafe by building inspectors. They found no fire alarms or fire extinguishers installed.

Cooking was done on a stove that had an improperly installed exhaust hood, with no fire protection system - as well as improper lighting and ceilings that were falling in.

City Manager Bruce Moore says while the City does not seek to interfere in a business's operations, action was required.

“I am charged with the public safety of our city,” he said. “We could not stand by and allow citizens to enter an unsafe building.”
