Little Rock college student injured after robbery-attempt shooting

Arkansas Baptist College student shot near campus

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – An Arkansas Baptist College student is recovering after being shot on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at 1600 Bishop Street near the college, and police say the man was shot in the hand during an attempted robbery. Police say he was shot while running from three men who were trying to rob him.

The school went on lockdown for 20 minutes while police looked for the suspect on the school's campus. Willie Johnson, a student at ABC, said he wished the police could do a better job patrolling the area around the school.

"We attend school, we want to be safe, we want to make it back home," Johnson said.

Students said it would also be helpful if the school put some gates and fencing around the parking lots to protect those who attended the school.

The student's injuries are considered non-life threatening.

According to police, the suspects are three men who are said to have driven off in a white car.
