Little Rock police responding to 2 separate shootings, one victim dead

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Little Rock Police Department are currently investigating two separate shootings.

One shooting took place near the 8900 block of Stanton Road while the other happened near the 10500 block of West Markham Street.

Police say the victim of the Stanton Road shooting, 24-year-old Israel Choxon, has died due to their injuries.

Lieutenant Steve McClanahan said that the suspect in the Stanton Rd. shooting stole the victim's car after shooting him. The suspect is a black male in his mid-20's driving a 4-door brown Nissan Maxima.

McClanahan clarified that they are working to get more information. He confirmed this is the city's 23rd homicide of the year.

Officers say the West Markham shooting appears to be a disturbance call at the Motel 6.
