Arkansas schools face new lunch guidelines

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Schools are struggling to feed kids after the state made changes to child nutrition guidelines.

The new policy states no food or drinks can be sold or given away outside federal child nutrition guidelines.

Kids will also be fed more fruits and vegetables, less fat, whole grain-rich foods and healthier sodium amounts.

The new requirements are challenging school food service workers. They say it's hard to find foods that are low in sodium and still within budget.
