Senate passes alcohol and pregnancy bill

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – On Monday, the Arkansas Senate unanimously passed the Alcohol and Pregnancy Awareness Act.

Arkansans rallied on the steps of the state capitol on Monday urging lawmakers to pass the bill.

Senate Bill 785 would allow for warning signage to be posted at any business that sells alcohol on fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.

In 2013, Act 1300 passed, allowing the warning signage be posted, but it only pertained to private clubs.

"We have tried so hard for the last six years to get this passed and we hope that this time we're gonna make it," said Carol Rangel of DHS.

The bill now heads to the house committee.
