Update: Suspect's name released in Sunday shooting

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Lt. Sidney Allen with the Little Rock Police Department has said that the house where a shooting suspect had supposedly barricaded himself has been cleared.

Allen said the house at the 700 block of Valentine Street has been searched and cleared, and investigators are now following up on leads as to where he may be located.

Earlier Sunday night, Allen told THV 11 News that 20-year-old Jasper Dean Goodwin Jr. had apparently fired one shot around 7:30 p.m. at his girlfriend near the house close to UAMS and left the scene. Allen said that the woman watched Goodwin run into a vacant house at that intersection and hadn't seen him since.

Crisis negotiators tried to make contact with him and talk him out of the house, but were not successful.

In the police report released Monday, it states that the fight started when Goodwin allegedly wanted to use the woman's cell phone and she refused.

THV11 will continue to follow this story and bring you more information as soon as it becomes available on www.THV11.com.
