Local business cashing in on soccer jersey sales

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Arkansas soccer fans are showing their support for the U.S. men's national team by purchasing gear and merchandise so they can show off the stars and stripes.

"I've never seen a bar that packed with every single person wearing red white and blue," said Little Rock American Outlaws Vice President Patrick Rawhouser. "With the World Cup, it's all about the USA getting the patriotism out there and everybody loves that."

Fan gear at world cup watch parties can range from flags, to bandanas, and even homemade bald eagle costumes, but the most popular garment is the official Nike U.S. Men's jersey. Last year, local PhD student Sean Jones created www.soccerfreak.org where he sells authentic national team uniforms at a discount through a wholesaler. "It just grew," he told THV. "It went from a couple sales a month to a couple hundred sales a month to a couple thousand sales a month."

So far this month, Jones has already sold 200 United States jerseys and filled more than 2,000 orders worldwide. "They want to prove America's strong and proud," added Jones. "The jerseys look pretty sweet and they want to wear them."
