LRPD investigating fatal pedestrian accident

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Little Rock Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident.

The accident happened at Roosevelt and Maple. A man was trying to get on a Rock Region Metro Bus.  The driver believed the man was intoxicated and wouldn't let him on, according to police.

"I heard loud banging on the door.  The bus driver was yelling at the man to stop banging on the door and to move back," said Stephanie Vault, a passenger on the bus.

The driver then drove off.  Officer Moore with the Little Rock Police Department said that the driver quickly realized the bus had struck the man.

The man died in the incident, according to police.

Police are getting contact information from all the people on the bus. The block at the corner of Roosevelt and Maple will be closed for at least a couple hours.

Rock Region Metro said that they will take the bus driver back to headquarters and perform a urine and breath test on him.  If he is cleared he could possibly be driving for Rock Region Metro again by tomorrow.

The man has not yet been identified.
