LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Nearly 4,000 employees of the Little Rock School District gathered for an inspirational kick-off to the 2014-15 school year during a district-wide convocation at Barton Coliseum.

This year's theme was The Power of One. The primarily student-led event will feature middle and high school students as guest speakers and performers:

  • Hannah Burdette, Emcee (Parkview Magnet High School)
  • Tequela Ramsey, Welcome (McClellan High School)
  • James Wilson, Speaker (Dunbar Middle School)
  • Roberto Ramirez, Speaker (2014 Hall Graduate)
  • Dean Patterson, Speaker (Central High School)

The audience of administrators, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, teachers and other support staff will also hear from Steven Helmick, LRSD's 2014 Teacher of the Year, and a choir comprised of employees from LRSD's transportation department.
