Made in Arkansas: Local artist putting her stamp on the Natural State

A local artist is creating one a kind jewelry by hand and making her mark in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – We all have that one person in our lives that is difficult to buy for. However, there is a local shop in downtown Little Rock that may have just what you're looking for. The perfect gift sure to leave a lasting impression.

“If you need that one of a kind special gift, we've got you covered,” said owner of Bella Vita Jewelry, Brandy McNair.

What started as a hobby for McNair as a kid quickly developed into a passion: creating unique, custom jewelry by hand.

“My grandparents are antique dealers so one Christmas I went through trays and trays of all this costume jewelry that they had and I had a little show in Fayetteville and that really kind of triggered my interest.”

McNair started Bella Vita Jewelry nine years ago, selling her custom pieces at local art shows. In 2014, she opened up a storefront in the Lafayette Building in downtown Little Rock, bringing her dream to life.

“You won’t just walk in here and find our jewelry. The focus is our jewelry, but we have scarves and dresses. We try and have a unique and eclectic blend of merchandise.”

Not only does McNair sell her pieces, she creates them by hand right in the shop.

“Anything you want we can stamp it on a piece of metal,” said McNair.  “It’s really fun to do the custom orders, the stamping. A lot of times it will be a mother's necklace or something to remember a lost loved one, or an empowering statement that makes a woman feel good every time she puts it on.”

McNair is a young artist putting her stamp on Arkansas one piece of jewelry at a time.

“I really believe the product I am putting out and designing is unique and totally different than what you are going to find anywhere else,” said McNair.

All of the products at Bella Vita are either made locally or are fair-trade. Bella Vita is located on the first floor of the Lafayette Building in downtown Little Rock.
