Man accused in Tenn. homicide dies in shootout with police at Ark. motel

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say a man accused in a Tennessee slaying was shot to death during a gunbattle with police at a West Memphis motel.

Shelby County Sheriff's Office Assistant Chief Deputy Mark Dunbar says Ricardo Tenorio died early Friday after the shootout at a Days Inn motel in West Memphis. Dunbar says that a day earlier, Tenorio allegedly tried to run over Shelby County deputies who were trying to serve a homicide warrant on Tenorio in connection with an Aug. 26 slaying in Memphis.

Dunbar says authorities surrounded the motel after receiving a tip that Tenorio was there. He says Tenorio came out of the room firing at authorities and was shot to death.

Dunbar says Tenorio was pronounced dead at the scene.
