Man dies after deadly deputy chase in Garland County

A man is killed in Garland County after crashing during a deputy chase.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - A man is dead in Garland County after a police chase ends in a wreck just northwest of Hot Springs.

On Saturday, July 1, around 12 p.m. Garland County deputies were called to the 1600 block of Cedar Glades Road in regards to a possible abandoned vehicle and a suspicious person walking around the property.

When deputies arrived, a vehicle matching the caller’s description pulled out of the driveway at a fast speed. The deputy attempted to turn around and make contact with the vehicle when the driver passed another vehicle on a double yellow line.

According to a press release from the Garland County Sheriff’s Office, the suspected vehicle then went around the curve of Cedar Glades Road and approached the intersection of Turkey Trot Lane when it ran off the road, hit a culvert, flipped and ejected the driver.

The driver has been identified as 30-year-old Gabriel Day Watson. The deputy has not been identified.
