LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Horace Mann Magnet Middle School students will now get hands-on experience in scientific research thanks to a new partnership with Arkansas State University.
The middle school students will collect data on plant and gas research projects. The data they collect will be sent to the university. Once A-State has received the data they will analyze it and help students better understand data analysis.
An 8th grade student at Mann, Olga Lyzogubova, said, "Just reading a book you just read the words and sometimes it can confuse you. When you get to actually learn from actual people and get hands on things from it then you can actually remember everything."
Teachers said interpreting and analyzing date has been a weak area for students once they take the ACT Aspire test. They are hoping the partnership will improve scores at Mann Magnet Middle School.
