Mark Pruitt found competent to stand trial for death of Ark. firefighter

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Judge Barry Sims has ruled that Mark Pruitt is competent to stand trial for the murder of firefighter Ronald Jason Adams.

On January 22, emergency personnel responded to the 200 block of Dortch Loop where a person was reported having a seizure. East Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department was the first to arrive on scene.

When deputies with the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office arrived, they found EPVFD firefighter Ronald Adams suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the Springhill Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock.

Later that day, police arrested the owner of the home which was Mark Pruitt. He has been charged with manslaughter.

Pruitt's trial has been set for Tuesday, April 11. He is being held without bond at the Pulaski County jail.
