Maumelle teacher arrested for being intoxicated at school

MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV) -- A Maumelle High School teacher was arrested for public intoxication.

Friday, Ann Higgins was teaching a class at Maumelle High School when several other teachers reported that she smelled like alcohol and was "acting strange." The other teachers notified the administration and the Maumelle Police Department School Resource Officer.

Higgins was taken out of her classroom and given a portable breath test.  Her breath test result was .14, according to police.  Police also reported that her eyes were bloodshot and she smelled like alcohol.

Higgins was taken to the Maumelle Police Department and then released into the custody of a responsible party.
