LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Matt McLeod Fine Art Gallery is hoping to make September's Second Friday Art Night a night to remember. The gallery will collaborate with the art night to hold a launch party for the third annual Six Bridges Regatta and the finale for the "Human Experience" exhibition.
The launch party on September 9 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. will unveil the collectible poster for 2016's Six Bridges Regatta featuring the artwork of Matt McLeod. He will be on hand to sign posters for anyone hoping for one. The party will also hold a silent auction for the original painting titled "Race Day Morning".
The "Human Experience" exhibition will end officially on Saturday, September 17. It features paintings, sculptures and jewerly by over thirteen different artists.
"Rowing is such a beautiful sport," said Lynnette Watts of the Arkansas Boathouse, "Utilizing Arkansas artists to create original work for the posters every year makes it more personal for representing the Central Arkansas community."
The Six Bridges Regatta brings rowers from across America to race down the Arkansas River. Rowers begin near the Little Rock Airport and make their way through downtown and finish at the Junction Bridge. There will be multiple races from sprints and head races.
"An athletic endeavor like rowing is a beautiful human experience," says Matt McLeod, "So, the Six Bridges Regatta launch party is a perfect event to combine with the "Human Experience" exhbition. As an Arkansas artist, I am excited to provide a painting for the event. As a gallery owner, I am proud to offer highly collectible artworks about human experience to Central Arkansas art buyers."
The Six Bridges Regatta takes place on October 15 and the Second Friday Art Night takes place on September 9.
