Pro-medical marijuana group holding seminars to educate potential patients

Pro-cannabis message in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - With each passing day, medical marijuana takes one step closer to becoming a reality in the Natural State. But there are still so many questions from potential sellers, growers, and especially patients.

Illegally Healed, a group in support of medical cannabis, are hosting seminars across the state to educate and inform Arkansans of their medically available options.

"Patients from all across Arkansas are coming out to learn how to get legal and to learn from other medical cannabis patients to learn what their options are out there," said Corey Hunt, co-founder of Illegally Healed.

Hunt said Arkansans need to know they have different options when it comes to medical cannabis.

“There's oils, tinctures, and suppositories, the list of options goes on and on,” he said.

Coltyn Turner was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when he was 11. He was put on several medications that he said just made his health worse.

“From one medication alone I got medically induced Rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. On another medication the bone in my heel had deteriorated,” Turner said.

He said medical cannabis was his last option. He and his family moved to Colorado, where marijuana is legal.

“We didn’t know if it was going to work but it was my last resort so we had to take that chance,” he said.

He said he knew the medical marijuana helped his overall health and he wanted proof.

“We had the colonoscopy and the doctor who was very against cannabis walked in with a colonoscopy that revealed complete clinical remission,” he said.

Turner said he wants to share the proof that medical cannabis saved his life.

“Just the fact that I was able to function and have a normal life again was fantastic,” said Turner.

The next medical cannabis synopsis is August 2 at 6:00 p.m. at the Comfort Inn in Little Rock, AR. The synopsis is to help educate health care providers on medical cannabis.
