Mountain Home police investigating apparent murder-suicide

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (KTHV) -- Just after midnight, Baxter County 911 received a phone call from a man who had just arrived at his home on Kierra Place and found his mother and step father dead.

Baxter County Sheriff's Deputies along with Mountain Home Police arrived at the scene and found the caller in the front yard. Deputies made entry into the home and found a male victim, 54-year-old Kenneth Farley, laying on his back on the bedroom floor. They also located a woman later identified as Jane Marie Farley, 57, face down on the bedroom floor.

Sheriff's investigators, Arkansas State Police, and the Baxter County Coroner's office examined the scene and conducted interviews throughout the night. Evidence at the scene causes investigators to believe at this time that Kenneth Farley shot Jane Marie Farley twice, and then turned the gun on himself. A gun was recovered at the scene.

The bodies have been sent to the State Crime Lab in Little Rock to confirm the cause of the deaths.
