Nearly 7,000 customers without power after bird flies into transformers

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - It started out like any other day for employees at Singleton Auto sales. But Tuesday afternoon's routine quickly changed when the power suddenly went out. Quenton Singleton says, "Well I thought it'd be back on in a few minutes."

When Singleton came outside, he noticed that the majority of businesses along Donaghey Avenue were out of power, forcing some to even close for the day. Singleton explains, "Well we were basically out of business. We were in the process of doing some financing on some cars and we had to stop that."

According to Conway Corporation nearly 7,000 customers were without power all thanks to a bird. Singleton reacts saying, "Oh my! A bird? That's funny."

The bird hit two transformers, putting businesses like Singleton's on hold for the day. Now that everything is back up and running smoothly, all Singleton can do is laugh. Fortunately for him, the outage only lasted for about 2 hours and he was able pick up where he left off.
