North Little Rock man arrested for fatally shooting girlfriend

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – The North Little Rock Police Department is investigating a homicide.

On Tuesday night, officers responded to an apartment on the 2000 block of Flora Street in regards to a person being shot.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers located 18-year-old Yasha Bonds of Little Rock lying on the ground bleeding. She was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of at least one gunshot wound to the head. 

A short time later, North Little Rock Detectives arrested Bonds’ boyfriend, 20-year-old Robert Earl Burton of North Little Rock, and charged him with capital murder.

Burton will have his initial appearance in North Little Rock District Court on Thursday at 9 a.m.  He was transported to the Pulaski County Regional Intake Facility where he will be held with no bond.

This investigation is still ongoing, and more information regarding this incident will be released as it becomes available.
