North Little Rock woman arrested for throwing dog from 5th floor balcony, domestic battery

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A North Little Rock woman has been arrested after throwing a dog from a fifth floor balcony.

North Little Rock police responded to a call that a dog had been thrown from a balcony at Campus Towers. When officers arrived, they found a small dog, weighing 10 to 12 pounds, dead in front of the building.

Officers met the dog's owner in the lobby, a 65-year-old man. He was bleeding from his nose and several blood stains were on his t-shirt.

The victim told officers that 20-year-old Annie O'Neal "switched on," punching him and then throwing the dog off the balcony. He said that O'Neal comes over to aid in taking care of his dog.

According to the victim, when O'Neal came over she began talking to a doll while he sat in the front room of his residence. O'Neal then "rushed to the front room" and threw a TV tray, breaking several items. The victim also said that O'Neal was laughing throughout the incident.

She was taken into custody where she said she didn't "mean to kill the dog." She claimed she was wearing high heels shoes and tripped, causing the dog to fly off the balcony to its death.

O'Neal has been charged with cruelty to animals and third degree battery.
