NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - There was a surprise at the end of church for the members of Lakewood United Methodist Church Sunday.
The congregation found out they would be feeding 15,000, so the church along with a group called Pack-Sack coordinated with other churches and non-profits to pack up single-serving meal packages.
"They say 100 volunteers can pack 10,000 meals in one hour. So we did this in conjunction with a sermon series that we've been doing, and we challenged the congregation to lead boldly," said Sr. Pastor of Lakewood United Methodist Church Rev. Luke Conway.
Conway said they did have to spring the surprise on the congregation. They worried some might skip church because of the schedule change, but they managed to fill 6,000 packs in just 30 minutes.
