One juvenile dead after shooting at Midtown Park Apartments in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Little Rock police are investigating a double shooting after a juvenile was found dead inside a stairwell of an apartment complex at the corner of University Avenue and Markham Street.

Police say there was a double shooting at the Midtown Park Apartments, which is across the street from the Park Plaza Mall. The Little Rock Police Department got the call around 5:20 p.m.

One male victim was found dead inside a stairwell inside the apartment complex. Police say the shooting happened between the 6th and 7th floors and around 20 shots were fired during the shooting.

Another person was transported to the hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. His injuries were non-life threatening.

According to police, the shooting happened after the two juveniles tried to rob a man who lives in the apartment building. He said the two tried to rob him and then they exchanged gunfire.

Police arrested and charged 17-year-old Ronterio Claybook with manslaughter, aggravated robbery, and first degree battery. Claybrook is being charged as an adult.

This is the 18th homicide of the year for the city.
