Overdue book fees being donated to Harvey relief efforts

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – If you have a fine or fee at the Central Arkansas Library System, it’s going to those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

CALS is donating any fines and fees collected for overdue books from Monday, September 4, through Sunday, September 10, to assist our neighbors in Texas.

CALS’s donation will be directed to the American Red Cross.

“We want to help address the profound suffering of our neighbors in Texas who have experienced epic catastrophe.  Working with the American Red Cross is a simple and tangible way to allow our patrons to help and raise awareness of the relief efforts,” said Nate Coulter, CALS Executive Director.

To participate, you can pay fines at any CALS’s 14 branch libraries or online.

You can also donate at thv11.com/texascares or by texting HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
