AHTD opening Highway 67 Sheridan bypass to traffic

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – The new Highway 167 Sheridan Bypass will be open to traffic next week, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews have been constructing the 8.5 mile stretch of highway since late 2010. The new $25 million bypass begins just north of Sheridan. It extends west of downtown, crossing Highways 35, 270 and 46. It reconnects with existing Highway 167 south of Sheridan. The new bypass is expected to alleviate downtown traffic congestion.

AHTD crews will open the bypass to traffic on Thursday, April 3rd at noon, weather permitting. Construction will continue in the area until mid-May.

Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
