Police say no gun found after suspect shot in officer-involved shooting

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Two Little Rock police officers are on administrative leave after shooting a man who may have been involved in a rape and possible stabbing.

Police were called out around 12:05 on Thursday morning to the 5200 block of Geyer Springs Road at the Stone Ridge Apartments. After talking to witnesses, they developed two suspects.

One of those was immediately taken into custody and the other suspect was located hiding behind a nearby church.

Reports state that police told him to come out with his hands up.

According to Little Rock Police Chief Kenton Buckner, the man came out in a "shooting stance" and two officers shot him multiple times.

No gun was located at the scene.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but he is expected to survive. The victim of the initial assault was also taken to the hospital.

No names have been released at this time.
